RAGLAN SWEATER:

This sweater is knit flat from the top down and then joined in the round to knit the sweater bottom.  Instructions for a closure are not included but you could always add a button and a crochet chain loop to close the back of the sweater.

 

It is pulled onto the doll by inserting the doll feet into the sweater neck and pulling it on upwards, making sure to stop at the hands and inserting them into the sleeve holes.

 

Materials:

Approximately 28 yds of fingering weight yarn.  Size 2.75mm DPNs or 2 circular needles (or needle size to get gauge.)  Tapestry needle.

 

Gauge

8 stitches per inch and 12 rows per inch in stockinette stitch.

 

Directions:

CO  22 sts

Row 1:  [K2, p2]* *repeat until end of row.

Row 2:  [P2, k2]* *repeat until end of row.

Row 3:  [K2, p2]* *repeat until end of row.

Row 4:  K2, [kfbf, k4]* *repeat 3 times, kfbf, k4. You should have 30 sts.

Row 5:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.  

Row 6:  K3, [kfbf, k6]* *repeat 3 times, kfbf, k5. You should have 38 sts.

Row 7:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.  

Row 8:  K.

Row 9:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.  

Row 10: K4, [kfbf, k8]* *repeat 3 times, kfbf, k6. You should have 46 sts.

Row 11:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.

Row 12: K.

Row 13: K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2

Row 14: K6, move next 11 sts onto waste yarn, cast on 2 sts, k11, move next 11 sts onto waste yarn, cast on 2 sts, k to end of row.  You should have 28 sts.

Row 15:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.

Row 16:  K to end of row.

Row 17:  K2, p until 2 sts remain, k2.

 

Joining to work in the round:

Arrange stitches on DPNs, two circular needles or magic loop needle to prepare to join in the round.

Row 18: K until 2 sts remain.  This marks the new beginning of the round

Note: This sweater has a placket that is created by overlapping stitches from the beginning and ending of the row as we join in the round. 

Move last 2 sts to spare DPN and hold in front of the first 2 sts of the first needle.  You will be performing a three needle bind off without binding off the stitches.  Knit the first stitch from the front needle together with the first stitch from the back needle.  Knit the second stitch from the first needle together with the second stitch from the back needle. 

Knit to end of the round.  You should have 26 sts.

Round 20:  K.

Continue working in st st for 4 more rounds.

Round 25: K7, M1, k13, M1 k to end of round.  You should have 28 sts.

Rounds 26: [K2, p2]* * repeat to end of round.

Work in established rib pattern for 2 more rounds.

Bind off.  Weave in ends.

 

Sleeves:

Move 11 sts from waste yarn to DPNs.  

Round 1: Knit to end of round, pick up and knit 2 sts at underarm (the 2 previously cast on sts.) You should have 13 sts.

Round 2: K until 2 sts remain, k2tog. You should have 12 sts

Round 3: K.

Continue in st st for 16 more rounds.

Round 20:  [K2, p2]* *repeat to end of round.

Continue working in established rib pattern for 2 more rounds.

Bind off. 

Weave in ends, closing any holes with yarn tail.

BEANIE

This hat has a little bit of short row shaping at the back so it will sit lower on the back of the doll’s head than the front.

 

Materials:

Approximately 9 yds of fingering weight yarn. Size 2.75mm DPNs or 2 circular needles (or needle size to get gauge.)  Tapestry needle.

 

Gauge

8 stitches per inch and 12 rows per inch in stockinette stitch.

 

Directions:

Co 28 sts.  Join to work in round.

Round 1:  [K2, p2]* *repeat to end of round.

Continue working in established rib pattern for 4 more rounds.

Round 6:  K9 w&t.

Round 7: P3, w&t. (You will pick up wraps and knit them with their respective stitches as you encounter them for the rest of the pattern.)

Round 8: K7, w&t.

Round 9: P12, w&t.

Round 10: K to end of round.

Round 11: Knit in st st.

Continue working in st st for 3 more rounds.

Round 15: [K5, k2tog]* *repeat to end of round.

Round 16: [K4, k2tog]* *repeat to end of round.

Round 17: [k3, k2tog]* *repeat to end of round.

Round 18: [k2, k2tog]* *repeat to end of round.

Round 19: k2tog* *repeat to end of round.

Cut yarn leaving 6” tail.  Using a tapestry needle, thread the tail through the remaining live stitches and pull tightly to close the top of your hat.  Weave in ends.


 

SOCKS

Materials:

Approximately 9 yds of fingering weight yarn. Size 2.75mm DPNs or 2 circular needles (or needle size to get gauge.)  Tapestry needle.

 

Gauge

8 stitches per inch and 12 rows per inch in stockinette stitch.

 

Directions:

Using Judy’s magic cast on, cast on 8 sts (4 per needle).

 

Set up round:  Knit across both needles.  (Note:  The cast-on loops on needle #2 are twisted.  On the first round only, knit them through the back of the loops to untwist them.  After this round, the sts are worked normally.)

Increase round:

First needle: K1, M1R, k until 1 st remain, M1L, k1.

Second needle:   K1, M1R, k until 1 st remain, M1L, k1.

 

Foot:

Knit in st st for 7 rounds.

 

Begin ribbing:

Round 10:  [k2, p2]* *repeat to end of round.

Repeat last round until sock is as tall as desired, or 7 rounds.

Bind off.

Weave in ends.

 


 

PANTS:

Materials:

Approximately 28 yds of fingering weight yarn. Size 2.75mm DPNs or 2 circular needles (or needle size to get gauge.)  Tapestry needle.

 

Gauge

8 stitches per inch and 12 rows per inch in stockinette stitch.

 

Directions:

Cast on 24 sts.  Join in the round.

Round 1: [K2, p2]* *repeat to end of round.

Continue working in established rib pattern for 4 more rounds.

Round 6:  K.

Continue working in st st for 5 more rounds.

Round 12: K5, M1R, k2, M1L, k10, M1R, k2, M1L, k5.

Round 13: K.

Round 14: K6, M1R, k2, M1L, k12, M1R, k2, M1L, k6.

Round 15: K.

Round 16: K8, move next 16 sts onto waste yarn, k8.

 

Leg:

Join to begin knitting in the round.

Continue working in st st for 28 rounds.

Bind off.

 

Move sts from waste yarn on to DPNs and join to work in the round.  Beginning between the legs, knit in st st for 28 rounds.

Bind off.

Weave in ends, using tail to close any holes.
