Abbreviations

BlueSweaterJust in case my abbreviations are leaving you mystified, here’s a list of definitions. Let me know if I’ve missed something and I’ll add it ASAP.

* – repeat instruction following the asterisk as directed

BC – Back Cross, slip 3 st to cable needle and hold in back, k2, then slip the left st on cable needle back onto left needle and purl, then k2 from cable needle.

BO – Bind Off (There are many different bind off methods.  Unless specified in the instructions, I’ve used a standard bind off method.)

BOR- Beginning Of Row

CC – Contrasting Color

C3BP – Cable 3 Back Purl. Slip next st onto a cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from needle, then purl st from cable needle.

C3FP – Cable 3 Front Purl. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold in front of work, purl next st from needle, then knit 2 sts from cable needle.

C4B – Cable 4 Back. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.

C4F – Cable 4 Front or Forward. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold at front of work, knit 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.

CO – Cast On (There are many different cast on methods but my favorite is the long tail cast on.  Unless otherwise stated, I’ve used the long tail cast on for the project.)

cross 2 left- Knit into the back of the second stitch on your left needle with MC, leaving it on the needle; knit into the front leg of the first stitch with MC; slip both stitches off left needle together.

DPN- Double Pointed Needle

FC – Front Cross,  slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k2, then slip the left st on  cable needle back onto left needle and purl, then k2 from cable needle

k – Knit

k2tog – Knit 2 stitches together as if one stitch

m1 – make one (this means to increase a stitch and there are many different ways to accomplish this… pick your favorite)

m1R- make one right leaning stitch

m1L – make one left leaning stitch

MC – Main Color

p – purl

p2tog – Purl 2 stitches together as if one stitch

patt – pattern

pm – place marker

psso- pass slipped stitch over

p2sso- pass 2 slipped stitches over

RS – right side of fabric

sl – slip the stitch

sm- slip marker

ssk – slip, slip, knit these 2 slipped stitches together (decrease one stitch)

sssk – slip, slip, slip, knit these 3 slipped stitches together (double decrease)

st(s) – stitch(es)

twist 2 left- Knit the second stitch on your left needle through the back with CC, leaving it on the needle; knit into the front leg of the first stitch with MC; slip both stitches off the left needle together.

twist 2 right- Knit the second stitch on your left needle through the front leg with MC, leaving it on the needle;  knit into the front leg of the first stitch with CC; slip both stitches off the left needle together

WS – wrong side of fabric

yo – yarn over, makes an increase and creates a hole in the fabric
